Fresh Biscuit: Micachu and the Shapes

One of my favorite experiences is when I hear good new music that is unlike anything else I have ever heard. This artist Micachu put out the most dissonant, arrhythmic, and erratic album of the year, 'Jewellery,' and its insanely pleasurable. Give these songs 'Vulture' and 'Calculator' a try. If its not jiving yet, give it three more tries. Or Twenty. Hint: there may be an upcoming Doggie Treat article.

Fresh Biscuit: Ponytail

So this band Ponytail is master of the 7 minute freakout. I haven't listened to them much, but after this I am going to start. This song 'Celebrate the Body Electric (it Came from an Angel) is like a manic-depressive-manic episode, and the video is better. My favorite part is with the lights where they go smashy-unsmash, smashy-unsmash. They are Ponytail, check them out.

Fresh Biscuit: Teeth Mountain

Teeth Mountain is a collective from Baltimore ranging from 7 to 12 players who specialize in trance inducing droning instruments and tribal drums. Seriously, check it. The first song posted here, 'Ghost Science' is the catchiest (does it apply?), with strummed cello strings and lively taps for rhythm which keeps building and building up to a fizzle out which somehow makes me want to listen over and over.  I also put up 'Keinsein,' which sounds like a Scottish funeral mixed with a remote tribal wedding.

This Creeps Me Out

Fresh from some alternate universe I hope to never visit, is a program called Microsoft Songsmith.  This is for lazy musicians, i guess, because all you do is pick a style of song and then start singing and Songsmith will do the rest of the music for you.  You might ask, who needs this?  Well, as the video below demonstrates, a guy who needs to write a jingle for a glow in the dark towel and some other absolute freaks.  Then check out the Beastie Boys classic 'Intergalactic,' if you dare.

Fresh Biscuit: Black Moth Super Rainbow

I know that everybody out there likes the trippy, heavily vocodered, electronic sounds of a band from rural Pennsylvania fronted by a man who calls himself Tobacco. I do too. They have spent their last few albums perfecting this hazy ear-candy, and their new album appears to be headed that same direction. I can't really complain, though. New BMSR song 'Born on a Day the Sun Didn't Rise' is made for clearing your head and staring into the distance. Try it:

New album 'Eating Us' is out on May 26th.

Update:  just read on You Ain't No Picasso about the interactive BMSR music video for 'Dark Bubbles.' Apparently he was born on a day the sun didn't rise, but you can control the sun while he jumps on a trampoline.  Go crazy!

This Really Happened

Fresh in the you are not on acid, this really happened department is a surprisingly good remix of the slap chop commercial.  I am working on creating a diet plan where you eat healthy with foods prepared by Slap-Chop and dance off extra calories to this song.  Thanks Vince for all you have given us.
